Game Concept
In The Social Engineer, your mission is to protect companies and businesses from catastrophic attacks. You will learn various Social Engineering techniques and apply them independently in different companies to expose dangerous vulnerabilities before criminals can exploit them. With diverse open-world settings and realistic virtual reality controls, an exciting and immersive experience awaits you.
Missions
The game features 13 exciting missions in different settings and difficulty levels. From introductory missions to challenging ones, you will have the opportunity to:
- Infiltrate a business meeting of an advertising agency as a purported businessman
- Pose as a police officer and steal a laptop from a police station
- Deceive a dock worker to operate a crane unnoticed
- Disguise yourself as a janitor to take pictures of secret photoshoots
- And much more!

Social Engineering Techniques
As a Social Engineer Agent, you will have access to a constantly expanding repertoire of different Social Engineering techniques to achieve your goals. These techniques include:
- Disguising yourself and pretending to be someone else
- Sneaking into monitored rooms
- Exploring private social media pages
- Executing baiting attacks with QR codes
- Hacking into computers using manipulated USB sticks
- Searching trash bins for information
- Using websites and public notices
- Deceiving employees in personal conversations or calls
Game Mechanics
The Social Engineer is a roomscale VR game, allowing you to freely move through the game world. You can also use the teleportation function to cover long distances or move between floors. With the controllers, you can interact with objects, doors, and people as if they were your virtual hands. Your tablet contains essential information and apps, including a Social Engineering Wiki, a browser, a phone app, a building plan, a photo app, and a help app. You will also have a Mission Instructor to assist you in missions.
Learning While Playing
The Social Engineer is a Serious Game based on real Social Engineering security audits. It can be used for training to understand Social Engineering attacks and increase awareness of Social Engineering in both private and professional settings. The game concept was developed in collaboration with an IT security firm and scientifically accompanied. The special Educational Mode allows you to query learned knowledge directly in the game.
