About the game

The Rise and Fall of the Empire

The once-great Empire has crumbled, leaving behind a fractured land with multiple successor kingdoms vying for power. In this tumultuous time, the lords and ladies of these petty kingdoms engage in fierce battles and political schemes to gain control and influence. As threats loom on the horizon, famine and warfare plague the common people, while noble families succumb to decadence and betrayal.

Lead Your Kingdom to Greatness

In this medieval colony simulation game, you must guide your small kingdom to greatness and ensure the survival of your noble family. As the ruler, you must work together with your family members to take charge of your city, your kingdom, and your political strategies. Each family member has their own unique strengths, weaknesses, and ambitions that drive them as they navigate complex relationships with each other and foreign rulers.

  • Build alliances and friendships
  • Engage in drunken escapades
  • Commit brutal assassinations

As your family members carry out orders, lead armies, and study ancient texts, their skills and traits will determine their success. It is up to you to train and educate them to unlock their full potential and secure the future of your family line.

Knowledge is Power

In addition to skills and traits, each family member also has their own cultural background and needs. Dissatisfaction can lead to resentment, envy, and disloyalty, and even result in deadly betrayals. As the ruler, you must manage these dynamics and decide whether to calm tensions through gifts and camaraderie or eliminate threats through violence.

One of the key factors in your kingdom's success is the knowledge possessed by your nobles. They can individually study ancient texts to learn new technologies, but if they perish, that knowledge will be lost unless it is recorded or passed down to their students. Acquiring books in different languages and translating them for your family members can unlock new buildings, tools, and opportunities for your kingdom. However, you must also decide whether to hoard this knowledge or trade it for wealth and resources.

The Common Folk of Norland

The common people of Norland are the backbone of any kingdom, serving their noble lords on the battlefield and in the city. However, they also have their own needs, backgrounds, and thoughts, making them difficult to please and easily manipulated. As the ruler, you must address their complaints and manage their work and wages to keep them satisfied. High wages and low costs can also encourage migration, but be cautious of who you welcome into your kingdom as different cultures can cause friction and lead to unrest.

Managing Your Peasants

Peasants are responsible for maintaining the complex production chains of your city, building structures, harvesting resources, and producing goods. They rely on their wages to lead fulfilling lives, so it is important to manage their wages and the cost of basic needs like food and beer. However, be careful not to anger them as they can easily turn against you and cause chaos in your kingdom.

A World of Intrigue and Conflict

Norland is set in a rich and vibrant world with a complex history and diverse cultures. The collapse of the Empire has left a power vacuum, and different factions and kingdoms are vying for control. As the ruler, you must navigate these relationships and make strategic decisions to gain alliances, negotiate trade deals, and plot assassinations.

Events and calamities will also test your leadership skills, from kidnapped relatives to natural disasters. You must also be wary of enemies infiltrating your ranks and bringing their armies to your borders. War is not to be taken lightly, as it risks the lives of your people and requires careful planning and resources.

Tell Your Own Story

With a multitude of scenarios and options, Norland allows you to build a society and tell a unique story. Will you be a warmonger, a religious zealot, a wealthy idealist, or a treacherous spymaster? The choice is yours in this medieval colony sim where anything can happen.
