As you explore the woods, you come across a horrifying sight - your target today is no ordinary ghoul or vampire. You have a selection of eight unique Hunters to choose from, each with their own equipment and specialized skill trees and mechanics. Vampires, night walkers, and demons present unique challenges, and the feuding dark cults of humanity introduce their own threats with their varied approaches to battle.

Goetz' blunderbuss can deal a serious blow from a distance, while Franziska's righteous fury can take down even the most powerful of foes. Faye's arcane machinations are powered by the essence of souls, and Irina's white magic can help you hold your ground against the onslaught. Face off against massive hordes and powerful monstrous entities, learning their attack patterns, strengths, and weaknesses to devise the best plan of attack.

Your Hunters return home, wounded and broken, after a hard-fought battle against strange creatures and mutant beasts. The hamlet you have secured as your base of operations is in a decrepit state, but with enough time and resources invested in its development, it can become a safe haven for your team. You will have to make tough decisions about which buildings to construct and upgrade - will you focus on improving your equipment, preparing advanced potions, or using the power of faith to ward off evil?

Research your adversaries and unlock new opportunities in the struggle against the forces of Hell. Your studies may turn the tide of this endless war, but be aware that the enemy will not stand by as you study ancient scrolls. Your remaining Hunters can provide support from the hamlet itself, with prayers and motivation from the local tavern.

As darkness falls, an unexpected guest arrives at the outskirts of your town. One of the cults has come seeking an alliance to further their own ambitions, offering seductive power that you could use for the greater good - but at what cost? The game features many different cults that worship various devils, with four randomly selected to appear in each playthrough. Each campaign offers unique strategic threats and opportunities, with each cult favoring different combat styles and monstrous allies, and presenting unique missions to resolve.
