About the game
The textile industry is still one of the most exploitative industries in the world. To bring attention to this issue, we created a game that gives an artistic view of working conditions in 19th century Manchester, in the wake of the first general strike.
The game, Henrietta, puts you in the shoes of a seamstress trying to balance a 14-hour work day with taking care of her family and engaging in the worker's movement. It alternates between two modes: During working hours, you must reach your quota, and at home, you must use your limited income to keep your family alive and well. Can you also find the time to involve yourself in the socio-political problems of the era?
Half of all revenue from the game will be donated to Labour Behind the Label, a UK-based non-profit co-operative organisation which campaigns for workers' rights in the clothing industry.
