About the game
Project Earthquake
You have been assigned the task of returning to Mine 41-A to retrieve the research data left behind during the evacuation. Your mission will require you to use an old prototype mining drill, which was not originally intended for actual use. The engineers have managed to make it functional before your mission, but you will need to maintain the vessel as you go.
Gameplay
Navigation in the mine will require the use of echo-cast, a type of echolocation raycasting that projects a digital representation of your surroundings. Managing power is crucial, so using the scanner to locate energy signatures will help replenish your power and find outposts.
Once you reach an outpost, use the Short Ranged Receiver (S.R.R.) to download the data left behind. During your mission, you may encounter leaks in your mining vessel, so you will need to cycle the oxygen back into the air lock. You may also hear the engine room breaker start to hum, indicating that it is about to give out. You will need to crawl into the engine room to repair it.
Features
- Freely explore the underground mine in a restrictive mining vessel using digital representations of your surroundings.
- Deviate from the mission to unlock four alternative endings, revealing secrets the company wants to keep hidden.
- Maintain your vessel by managing power consumption, keeping the air breathable, and fixing the engine room breaker.
- Unlock different extras after each ending, such as freely roaming the main menu or playing a fishy arcade game.
History
This game is an evolution of a game called "Power Driller" that was created in 2017 using Scratch. The objective of the game was to navigate a maze of breakable and unbreakable boxes to reach a power block without running out of power. In 2023, the idea of creating a 3D version was floated, and it was eventually made for the GDevelop 3D jam. After a short break, the jam version was remade into a more fleshed out experience, first as Power Driller 2, then as Project Earthquake, and finally as Terracrest.
