About the game

This is an independent horror puzzle game developed by me. It uses a first-person perspective and combines rules and strange stories to solve puzzles and explore, ensuring survival while finding the final truth. The game has multiple endings.

The game has an automatic save function at key nodes, and there is no need to save manually. Players can return to the latest save point by selecting "Continue the game", or manually load a previously saved game. The game time is approximately 1 hour (depending on the time it takes to solve the puzzle).

The game currently only supports keyboard operation, with WASD for movement and the mouse for interaction and perspective changes. To zoom in and focus, simply press and hold the middle mouse button. Left shift allows for running, while left ctrl allows for crouching. There are also 3 number keys available for quick access to weapons, lighting, and photographing. Pressing ESC will open the system settings.

The game draws inspiration from rule-based strange stories and features a SAN value system. The SAN value represents the degree of mental erosion of the protagonist, with a lower value indicating a closer proximity to the truth.

To enhance the immersive experience, the game has head bobbing enabled by default while walking. If you find this feature disorienting, you can disable it in the settings page.

As a rule-based strange story game, "rules" play a crucial role, but the truth of these rules must be determined by the player in the game.

For the best experience, it is recommended to play the game with headphones at night.

As the entire game was developed solely by me, I am aware of my limitations and acknowledge that there may be some shortcomings. Please bear with me. Below are some shortcomings that I have identified:

  • The art and sound effects resources used in the game are primarily from the UE store, which may result in some inconsistencies in the scenes.
  • My personal testing abilities are limited, and I cannot guarantee that there are no bugs or levels that may cause the player to get stuck. If you encounter any such issues, please provide feedback and I will work to fix them as soon as possible.
  • The game was developed using UE5, and the 3D scene lighting effects may consume a significant amount of performance (especially since my optimization abilities are limited). During development, I used an RTX 2080s graphics card, which resulted in an average FPS of ≈50 with the default image configuration. When using a graphics card with lower specifications, such as a GTX 1060, and adjusting all image configurations to the lowest, the average FPS is ≈40. Please adjust the image quality accordingly based on your computer's specifications.
  • Some clues to solve the puzzles may rely on text, but I acknowledge that my writing abilities may need improvement.
