About the game
It's the year 2025 and a mysterious virus has plunged the world into total chaos. In the province of Alberta, the infected have overrun the area, leaving you and countless other survivors trapped in the Kananaskis area. With supplies running low, you must rely on your own resourcefulness to survive. You must scavenge for supplies, craft weapons, and take on dangerous mercenary work in exchange for rewards. You must also be wary of the Infected, as their strength comes in numbers. You must also manage your supplies to keep fed and hydrated, heal yourself when injured, and disinfect your wounds. As the quest system expands and improves during Early Access, you may even be able to take part in the stories of the survivors of Dominion. In Dead Matter, you will explore the rolling plains of the Kananaskis valley, nestled in the shadow of the Rocky Mountains. As the map continues to expand, you will discover a diverse number of natural wonders, as well as the towns of Canmore and Banff. You will also have to contend with a season cycle with harsher weather conditions, including an expanded temperature system. You will need to keep yourself warm and dry to survive the intense Alberta winters. You will also be able to build and fortify your base, farm, and use improved vehicles.
