About the game
to unlock- Equipment upgrades to unlock- Emergent gameplay scenariosBioframe Outpost is a 2D sci-fi action-adventure game, focused on exploration, experimentation, emergent gameplay, and storytelling. Its novel approach to non-linear exploration and action gameplay provides a new take on Metroidvania-style gaming: Players must use photography to gain insight into a highly detailed and captivating ecosystem. This knowledge is then used to manipulate creatures and systems in order to survive.
The game is immense, packed with equipment upgrades, and a gripping story. Bioframe offers countless emergent gameplay scenarios. The game is set in a terraforming colony, infiltrated and infected by an alien virus. The visuals of the game are inspired by classic sci-fi book covers from the 70s and 80s, as well as the major sci-fi films of that era. Each area is a visual treat for sci-fi fans, creating a strong sense of wonder and a highly interactive and alive environment with AI nuances. Each area is designed to be revisited multiple times without becoming dull. Creatures and systems are immobilized by the alien infestation, but can be freed by the player. However, this can lead to new challenges as many creatures and systems are very dangerous themselves.
The player uses photography to unlock entries in an electronic encyclopedia, describing details of an intricate ecosystem. Creatures can be pitted against each other, used as weapons or pickups, and provide powerful items. Equipment upgrades, missions, photography challenges, and an engaging narrative provide motivation for exploration and progress.
