About the game

Galactic Simulator: A Unique Clicker Game

Experience the wonders of the universe with Galactic Simulator, a clicker game that explores the Fermi Paradox and the Great Filter theory. As an observer, you can simulate the evolution of celestial bodies and civilizations in the galaxy.

Fermi Paradox

Despite our advanced technology, there is no concrete evidence of extraterrestrial life visiting Earth as of 2025. This raises the question, "Where are they?"

Drake Equation

The Drake Equation helps us understand the likelihood of extraterrestrial civilizations existing. It takes into account factors such as the rate of star formation, the number of planets with suitable environments for life, and the probability of intelligent life appearing.

  • N: The number of detectable extraterrestrial civilizations in the galaxy
  • R*: The rate of formation of stars in the galaxy
  • Fp: The fraction of stars with planetary systems
  • Ne: The number of planets with suitable environments for life
  • Fl: The fraction of suitable planets where life appears
  • Fi: The fraction of life-bearing planets where intelligent life appears
  • Fc: The probability of a civilization emitting detectable signals
  • L: The lifespan of a civilization

Galactic Simulator incorporates all of these components to provide a realistic simulation of the galaxy.

The Great Filter

The Great Filter is a barrier that makes it extremely rare for life to reach advanced stages of development. Galactic Simulator defines the following Great Filters:

  • Suitable stellar systems and potentially habitable planets
  • Organic molecules (e.g. RNA)
  • Prokaryotic cells
  • Eukaryotic cells
  • Multicellular organisms
  • Intelligent organisms
  • Tribal stage
  • Civilizational stage

Civilizations have a chance of failing at each stage of the Great Filter.

Civilization Levels (Kardashev Scale)

Once a planet reaches the civilization stage, it can advance through different levels of development, measured by the Kardashev Scale.

Unique Planets

Each planet in Galactic Simulator has its own unique appearance and is based on real-world physical data.

Game Controls

If you're new to these theories, don't worry - the game is easy to play. There are only a few key click actions, and the game provides detailed explanations and auto-completion options. Even without player input, the galaxy will evolve over time.

Here are some tips for in-game camera controls:

  • WASD to move
  • Q/E to rotate
  • Z/C to zoom

Game Modes

Choose from three different game modes to suit your preferences:

  • Casual Mode: In this mode, the success rate of most in-game events and the Great Filter is set to 50%.
  • Realistic Mode: For a more realistic experience, this mode uses more accurate success rates and data.
  • Sandbox Mode: In this mode, there are no resource use or generation limitations, and you can advance the universe's time.

More Features

Galactic Simulator also offers multiplayer mode, allowing you to create a unique galaxy with friends. You can also compete on leaderboards and showcase your unique planet to players worldwide. For a stunning display of your galaxy, try the screensaver mode in full screen.

About the Demo

The demo version of Galactic Simulator: Great Filter is now available for a limited time. Enjoy the single-player casual mode and try it out now. Please note that multiplayer and some features are not available in the demo version.
