Game Rules

General Gameplay: Each player starts with a standard set of chess pieces, but here's the twist - the pieces are hidden in anonymous boxes that are randomly assigned throughout the board at the beginning of the game. Players take turns opening boxes to free up a piece or moving any of their previously freed pieces. They can relocate a piece or capture an opponent's piece, if valid. The game continues until one player has lost all of their pieces, making the other player the winner.

Rules for Moving: In Chess of Fortune, each piece can only be moved one square at a time, either vertically or horizontally. Diagonal movement is not allowed. The standard chess piece moves do not apply in this game.

Rules for Capturing: The chess pieces are ranked in the following order: pawn < rook < knight < bishop < queen < king. Pawns have the lowest rank, while kings have the highest. Each piece can only capture an opponent's piece of equal or lower rank. For example, a rook can capture other rooks and pawns, but not knights or higher ranked pieces. A bishop can capture other bishops and any piece lower in rank (knights, rooks, and pawns), but cannot capture queens or kings.

Important Key Caveat: In Chess of Fortune, kings are not allowed to capture pawns. Pawns are the only pieces allowed to capture kings.
