About the game
The Heights and the Depths: A Tale of Two Worlds
One world, divided into two vastly different societies. The Heights, a utopia of beauty and privilege, and the Depths, a grimy industrial wasteland. Our heroine, raised in the Heights, has always looked down upon those living below. But when a mission requires her to descend into the Depths, she is forced to confront her prejudices and the gears of fate begin to turn.
This story takes place two years after the "Grand Ending" from the original Steam Prison. Our party, including the engineer and information broker Ulrik, arrives in the new land of Cainabel via his invention, the "buggy." There, they meet two kings and the story unfolds from there.
The Story of Cainabel
The stories of Ulrik, Adage, and Fin intertwine with the younger king Jevite in this strange land. Meanwhile, Eltcreed, Ines, and Yune work alongside the elder king Jereme to pave the way for Cainabel's future. This visual novel allows you to experience the story from two different perspectives, depending on which party member the heroine travels with.
In addition to the main story, this release also includes an extra story titled "A New Theory." Plot Summary
The Cainabel Story
Two years have passed since the unification of the Depths and the Heights, and the creation of a new government. With the freedom to choose their own romantic partners, our heroine spends her days avoiding meetings with potential suitors arranged by her mother. But when she is assigned to an expedition to investigate the fog surrounding the Depths, she embarks on a journey with Fin, Ulrik, and Adage to a brand-new world: Cainabel. Through new encounters and exposure to different values, our heroine begins to build new relationships with her companions. But as they face strange experiences and encounters in this foreign land, their relationships begin to change as well.
A New Theory
The Heights, a beautiful utopia in the sky, and the Depths, a filthy mechanical city. Those living in the Heights have immense power and despise the Depths. Our heroine, born and raised in the Heights, shares this disdain. But when she is framed for the murder of her parents and sentenced to the Depths, she finds herself at the mercy of Sachsen, the leader of the HOUNDS. As she works to clear her name, she must confront the harsh realities of her world and forge a new path for herself.
