You are a gray wolf living in the Northern Range of Yellowstone National Park. After leaving your natal pack, you must navigate the wild on your own. Your survival depends on your ability to hunt, explore, find a mate, and form your own pack to raise a new family.

But surviving in the wilderness is no easy feat. You must hone your hunting skills by practicing on animals such as elk, mule deer, and moose. Each prey has its own unique characteristics and you must know your limits in order to successfully catch them. Once you have mastered your hunting skills, it's time to find a mate and form a pack together.

As you explore the fields and forests of Yellowstone National Park, you must establish a territory and choose a den for your pack. Your pups will rely on you for food and play, and you must protect them from deadly predators who may try to harm them.

As your pups grow, they will eventually outgrow the need for a den and become nomadic. You will teach them how to hunt and survive on their own. By the next spring, they will be yearlings and will help you raise the next litter of pups. Some may even venture out on their own, just as you did when you left your natal pack.

The cycle of life continues, year after year, until your wolf dies. You can choose to live one life or continue your legacy through multiple generations.

Explore realistic recreations of select locations within Yellowstone National Park. The game is set in the Northern Range, also known as "the Serengeti of North America," where a variety of animals roam including elk, moose, mule deer, and more.

But be cautious, you are not the only wolf in the area. Rival packs also call this land home and may not take kindly to intruders. Other dangers, such as grizzly bears, cougars, and coyotes, also roam the lands and will compete with you for territory and food.

Live the Life of a Wild Wolf

Experience the life of a wild wolf as you form your own pack and watch your adorable pups grow into adults and disperse. You can choose to end your story on your deathbed or select an heir to continue your legacy.

The game features dynamic day/night cycles, weather, and seasons, immersing you into the wilderness. Wolves communicate with each other using natural actions and vocalizations, and packmates and pups interact and play with each other. Dynamic courtship interactions help you find and choose a suitable mate.

A genetics system models the inheritance of each wolf's genes, including eye color, physical and personality attributes, and genetic coat color. Other animals, such as elk, moose, mule deer, and beavers, also roam the lands in realistic herds.

Animals behave and change with the seasons, with herds migrating throughout the year. Bucks and bulls spar during the autumn rut and shed their antlers, while cows and does give birth and raise their young.

Rival wolf packs will maintain and protect their territories from intruders, like you. And other predators, such as bears, cougars, and coyotes, will challenge you for your kills and defend their own.

Optional Ironwolf Mode and Achievements

For a more challenging experience, you can choose to play in Ironwolf Mode, where each decision counts and your death cannot be undone. The game also features over 100 achievements and a variety of collectible objects hidden across the map, such as shed antlers, skulls, and lost human items.

Engage in Co-op Multiplayer

You can also engage in co-op multiplayer, where you can raise your pups together in a group for one game year, maintain territory against rival packs, or simply hang out in a sandbox without any specific objectives.

In the special 2-player mode, you and a friend can live a wolf's life together, building a pack and raising pups year after year until one of you dies of old age.

You can also choose who joins your games by selecting if they are public to all, private to friends, or only for select individuals or in-game pack groups.
