The Legend of Heroes: Trails through Daybreak II

After years of living in fear under the control of the mafia organization Almata, the people of Calvard can finally breathe a sigh of relief as peace has been restored. However, their tranquility is short-lived when a series of gruesome murders, all linked to a mysterious crimson beast, shakes the city to its core. As chaos once again threatens to consume Calvard, various factions emerge, some seeking justice and others seeking to exploit the situation for their own gain.

Amidst the turmoil, the spriggan Van Arkride is visited by an unexpected guest, prompting him to launch his own investigation into the murders. Who is behind these heinous acts and what is their ultimate goal? As old and new faces come together, the second installment of the Trails through Daybreak saga unfolds.

STORY

It is the year 1209 of the Septian Calendar. The threat of Almata has been eliminated and peace has returned to Calvard. However, a special forces unit of the CID is brutally attacked by an unknown assailant, throwing the city into chaos once again. As authorities struggle to contain the situation, criminal organizations take advantage of the chaos to further their own agendas.

Meanwhile, Van Arkride, a spriggan, begins his own investigation after being prompted by an unexpected visitor. Who is responsible for the massacre and what is their motive? And how does it all tie into Agnès' search for the eighth Genesis?

The roar of a crimson beast. A chance encounter with two individuals on a mysterious quest. These events lead Arkride Solutions down a path towards an inevitable fate.

BATTLE SYSTEM

The game features a seamless transition between field battles and command battles, with new mechanics that can be utilized in both: Cross Charge and EX Chains. Mastering these combo mechanics can give players a significant advantage in battle.

Cross Charge

If a player successfully performs a Perfect Dodge during a field battle, the Cross Charge icon will appear. Pressing the correct button while the icon is on-screen will allow the player to switch in another party member, who will simultaneously execute a charge attack on the enemy. This also grants the switched-in party member enhanced attack power for a period of time.

EX Chains

EX Chains can be activated by meeting specific conditions during command battles. Once these conditions are met, using a craft or normal attack on a stunned enemy will automatically trigger an EX Chain. This allows party members with SCLM activated to launch a simultaneous attack that also affects nearby enemies, dealing massive damage.

CHOOSE YOUR CHAPTERS

Van and his team will not always travel together during the events of Trails through Daybreak II. At times, they may split up to take care of tasks in different areas of Calvard. As a result, each act contains multiple chapters that can be played in any order. Progress through the story in the order of your choosing, as each chapter features a different cast of characters and their perspective on the events unfolding.

Once a chapter is completed, the next one will begin automatically.

UNIQUE MISSIONS

Some chapters will feature missions that require the unique skills of the characters in that party. For example, players may need to directly control the holo core AI, Mare, to hack into the orbal network, or use Swin to stealthily tail a suspicious individual.

CHARACTERS

Van Arkride

The leader of Arkride Solutions, Van is a lover of sweets, saunas, and orbal cars. As a spriggan, he often takes on questionable jobs, but he also has a strong sense of justice and helps those in need. He has the ability to transform into an armored form known as the Grendel, thanks to the holo core AI, Mare, installed in his combat orbment. With this power, he was able to defeat Almata, the mafia group that once terrorized the Republic. After their defeat, Van and his team went their separate ways, but he continues to take on jobs as a lone wolf.

Agnès Claudel

A first-year student at the prestigious Aramis Academy, Agnès also serves on the Student Council. Despite her polite demeanor, she is strong and determined, especially when working for Arkride Solutions. She met Van while searching for the Oct-Geneses, eight prototype orbments inherited from her great-grandfather. In gratitude for his help, she now works as a part-time assistant for Arkride Solutions. She has recovered seven of the eight Geneses, but continues to search for the last one while also balancing her duties at the academy and at Arkride Solutions. She respects and admires Van as her employer, but also has romantic feelings for him.

Elaine Auclair

An A-rank bracer affiliated with the Calvard branch of the Bracer Guild, Elaine is known as "Beauty's Blade" for her beauty and skill with a sword. She often catches the attention of the media, but has no interest in pursuing a career in modeling or acting. She had a brief romance with Van during high school, but they were separated for seven years before reuniting during the fight against Almata. Although their relationship is still tense, they have a strong bond. After the events involving Almata and the Oct-Geneses, Elaine receives news of the brutal murder of the Central Intelligence Department's elite Gamma Squad, allegedly by a "crimson" monster.

WORLD

The Republic of Calvard

A large country located in the central region of the Zemurian continent, Calvard is currently led by President Roy Gramheart. Due to the desertification of eastern Zemuria, Calvard has a history of welcoming immigrants and refugees, making it a diverse melting pot of cultures and ethnicities. One hundred years ago, Calvard was ruled by a monarchy until a democratic revolution led by Sheena Dirke transformed it into a republic. While it is often in conflict with Erebonia over bordering regions, Calvard has recently experienced rapid growth and development thanks to reparations from the empire after the Battle of Jormungandr. This has made it the most powerful nation on the continent. In terms of recreation, Calvard has seen a boom in motorsports and orbal cinema due to advancements in orbal technology.

Messeldam

A moderate-sized city located in the north of Calvard, Messeldam was once a major trading port for the Northern Sea. However, with the development of airship technology, its significance has diminished. The city's architecture remains largely unchanged for the past century and is popular among visitors. It is also known for hosting the Orbal Film Festival until it was relocated to Tharbad in 1208. Messeldam has a small population and is open to new art and customs, making it a hub for cultural diversity. It is also the hometown of Van and Elaine.
