In today's world, most weapons have the same specifications for each classification, making modern combat asymmetrical. This team-based game focuses on Special Forces groups from around the world, with enemies that communicate with each other and actively try to flank and kill you.
The missions in Direct Contact vary in intensity, requiring players to use all of their resources to succeed. The game features realistic clothing, player placement, tactics, breaching charges, and calculation and planning. Bullets have real-life velocity and drop, and explosions are almost photo-realistic. Players can call in airstrikes from the Eurofighter, F18, A10 Warthog, and the Sukhoi Su-25, with laser guidance munitions or bombs that they have to locate and call in themselves.
The game design takes into account hostile territories where doors are not always open. Players can peek the door, open it, kick it open, or breach it when necessary.
